Image
Seriously. I don't know why I love cotton yarn so much. Probably because it is USEFUL! And beautiful. Two of the pieces from the Hot & Spicy collection have been acquired by my kitchen. The rest have been listed now on etsy so that it won't acquire any more!  Hot & Spicy Stars: Lion Brand Kitchen Cotton in Citrus, Cayenne and Pumpkin. 7" across, each is unique and has a loop for hanging. Set of 5 available here . Mix and match them with the 7" flowers and squares (pictured below) of the same colors here . $1 discount per piece when purchased as a set.  The log-cabin technique is perfect for building a perfect square. Extra Thick Cotton Crochet

Image
I love cotton yarn! I don't know what it is about cotton that gets me, but I love to use it! Today, I'm working on a set of extra thick hot pads in grape and ice blue Lion Brand Kitchen Cotton. I pick up skeins of Kitchen Cotton from Amazon when they are less than $3 a piece. I guess I just find crochet cotton so useful in my own house that I want everyone else to know about it! I can't even tell you the last time that I bought paper towels or an actual hot pad. With cotton yarn around, who needs 'em? NOT THIS GIRL :D  Today's project: This particular pattern is very easy and results in a great textured fabric. Built using four strands of yarn (two of each color), this extra thick hot pad is going to stand up to even the heaviest of heavy hot pots.

Finn the Human - Adventure Time Cosplay - Crochet Finn Hood - Made to Order

So, I'm pretty much a huge nerd. That fact seems to catch people off guard, but it's true nonetheless. I married an equally huge nerd, too, so we are raising an inevitably nerdy child (go on, ask me how many TMNT shirts my 3 year old has. The answer is two, and the hat. That's just how we do!). Last week, I checked an item off my nerd to-do list: I purchased tickets to Salt Lake Comic Con! The hubby and I are going, and I convinced my best friend, Carmy, to make the three hour journey from Idaho to Utah so she can go with us! That's really where the story of this particular piece of work started. Carmy and I might be a tad obsessed with Adventure Time. You know Adventure Time, right? If not, you should, because it is completely random and awesome. Anyhow....Carmy had decided that she wanted to go as Princess Bubblegum before she'd even purchased a ticket. That, naturally, led me to realize that I should DEFINITELY dress up as Marceline the Vampire Queen! Se
